Born in Rennes. He was a student of Jean-Léon Gérôme and Luc-Ollivier Merson, and exhibited at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1890. He was also curator of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Quimper from 1922. In 1928, he was chosen to create six panels in the main staircase of the Quimper Town Hall, representing battle scenes and trenches, to honour the five hundred and sixty-six people from Quimper who fell at the front during the First World War.
