Auguste-Aristide-Fernand Constantin ( - )

Auguste-Aristide-Fernand Constantin was a French painter and engraver, specializing in landscapes, genre scenes and city views under the Ancien Régime. Son of architect Auguste Constantin, he trained with François-Édouard Picot and Thomas Couture. He made his debut at the Salon in 1848 with landscape drawings, and went on to distinguish himself as an aquafortist. In 1863, he published etchings with Alfred Cadart, and in 1882 produced a series for Judith Gautier's novel Isoline et la fleur serpent. His work, influenced by the art of the XVIIIᵉ century, bears witness to a taste for precision and historical detail.
