He began his artistic studies at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Brest, then went on to the National Superior School of Fine Arts in Paris and finally to the Decorative Arts from 1934 to 1938.
To finance his studies, during his holidays, he worked with Henriot where he became familiar with modelling. At the end of his studies, he collaborated with HB around 1938-39. He made numerous decorations of Breton characters on vases and dishes. He would also have made exotic decorations at the time of the Colonial Exhibition of 1931.
