Charles Maillard (1876 - 1973)

Born in Cholet, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Angers before entering the École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he frequented the studios of Louis-Ernest Barrias and Jules-Félix Coutan. From 1901 onwards, Charles Maillard regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français and competed for the Prix de Rome. He collaborated with the Manufacture Henriot during the inter-war period, proposing the publication of numerous groups, often for utilitarian purposes. The Breton theme appears in his work from 1926.
