Rivière's watercolors are very different from his lithographs. Here, the technique is closer to the divisionism of the Neo-Impressionists. Rivière is very skilful in his use of color in his watercolors. He has a keen sense of balance, which lends his works a soft yet vibrant quality. These watercolors are as delicate as they are poetic.
