Details
White glazed earthenware, circa 1930.
This piece is from Mathurin Méheut's solo exhibition “Mer et Forêt”, held at the Galerie Charpentier, Paris, in December 1928. This exhibition mixed paintings and sculptures. These included “La Femme aux roussettes”.
This sculpture stands out for the purity of its lines, testimony to a work completed with heart. This earthenware reveals the very essence of his art, where every line and curve reflects an intimate fascination with the ocean and its protagonists. “La Femme aux roussettes” is a timeless symbol of the deep bond between man and the sea.
