Saint Anthony is one of the most popular saints, canonised for his numerous cures. He is depicted here with his bible and dressed in the Franciscan habit tied with a three-knot cord. He is commemorated on June 13. He is the patron saint of sailors, shipwrecked people and prisoners. He is often invoked to find lost objects, then to recover health and, finally, to grant a wish.
